Visiting New York City can be a wonderful experience. There are many amazing and fun things to do on a New York City break although it helps to plan your trip well to ensure you don’t waste your time but return home with plenty of good memories.

Whatever your preferences or personality, New York has plenty of things for you to do. Whether its sightseeing, shopping, art, history, shows or partying you will find it all.

If your idea of a New York break is going shopping then you will be in the right place! New York City is home to the US Open tennis grand slam tournament. This is held every year late August or early September in Flushing Meadows. Flushing Meadows is located in Queens, New York if you want to go and visit at that time of year if you are a tennis fan. New York is a first class destination to visit. It might not be the biggest city in the US but still many look at it as the most exciting city to visit. Indeed, many who have taken a break to new New York have fallen in love with the City and moved there permanently. So when planning a break in New York, what are some of the places to look out for?

There’s something for everyone in New York City but the things you will do and the places you visit will depend greatly on your interests. For this reason, it’s important to  plan your New York break properly so you make the most of your time there.

For shopping lovers, New York is a paradise and there is plenty to keep you busy.  A few blocks from the Empire State Building on the corner of West 34th and 7th Avenue you find Macy’s, the worlds largest department store until 2009. Or if you really fancy shopping like the stars do then wander down Madison Avenue where you will see some of the top designer stores and try on a new Armani suit or for the ladies, that new Versace cocktail dress you have been dying to wear.

If you would enjoy sampling the culinary delights of New York City you will certainly not go hungry. There are restaurants to cater for every taste with foods from all around the world.

If culture, art and history is more you thing then there are plenty of museums in New York to keep you occupied. The American Museum of Natural History has one of the worlds largest collections of natural history in the world. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the West Point Museum are all also worth a visit and are all impressive collections in their own right.

There are plenty of famous landmarks in New York City if sightseeing is your thing. Most people head for Times Square, a trip to the top of the Empire State Building, Ground Zero (formerly the site of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and of course the iconic Statue of Liberty.

If you come with friends and want to find somewhere to party the night away then new York boast some of the best night clubs and hottest bars in the country. Meet new friends, chat with some of the New Yorkers and dance away till the small hours!

If you are planning a break to New York then there are also a couple of good free options for sightseeing. Take a ride on the Stanton Island ferry where you can admire the skyline of New York and get some good passing views of the Statue of Liberty. You can also take a walk across the mile long Brooklyn Bridge, again a great opportunity to admire the New York skyline.

Of course its impossible to fit everything in if you are planning on a short break in New York. But of course you can always return again to see everything else that you didn’t have time for on another visit.
