You might think that New York was an expensive place and not ideal for a cheap break, however the sights of this city alone make it worth a visit even if you don’t have much money to spend.
There are some of the most well known sights in the world in New York City and obviously these are completely free to go and see although some will charge a little if you do want to venture inside.

Visit the Statue of Liberty on your cheap New York Break
The Empire State building is impressive in its height and close by you can also find Macy’s, the largest department store in the world. Even if you don’t wish to buy anything its still an experience to visit for a cheap New York break.
A short distance from the Empire State Building is the historic Grand Central Terminal is also a ‘must see’ with its cathedral style windows, clocks and arches. It was restored in 1998 and free tours (although donations are welcomed) run every Wednesday.
Almost directly behind the Terminal is the Chrysler Building which at 1046ft tall many consider to be equally as impressive as the Empire State Building.
To get away from the buzz of the city for a while on your New York break, travel north to Central Park. Here you can relax in the acres of greenery and trees and even visit the Zoo there if you wish.
Travelling south, and next to Madison Square Park, you will find the oddly shaped Flatiron building. An interesting sight and one for the photo album.
Traveling down to the south-west tip of Manhattan Island will find you at the World Trade Center memorial site. Here you can pay your respects to those that lost their lives on 9/11.
No cheap New York break would be complete without seeing one of Americas most famous landmarks, the Statue of Liberty. Of course it can be seen from afar from the west side of Manhattan but to get up close take a ferry trip over to Liberty Island to admire her close up. Admission is free but the ferry will cost you around $12. The ferry from Manhattan goes from Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan.
A ride on the Staten Island ferry is another good option. It’s free and as well as giving fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty and also great skyline views of Manhattan.
