New York in June

April 23rd, 2010 by Holiday Lover in New York Breaks

New York can be a great place to visit in June. It’s one of the best times to be walking outside since the weather is warm and many of the summer activities that take place in New York City get under way.

If you decide to travel in June but want to miss the big crowds then try to take your New York break as early as possible since the latter part of the month can get very busy once the schools break for the summer. This can tend to make the big attractions such as the Empire State Building very busy.

Weather

Visit the Statue of Liberty on your New York Break in June

June weather in New York ranges on average from 18C to 26C so its generally warm enough to walk around in your T-shirt. It generally gets hotter through July and August so June makes a perfect choice for a New York break if you want it to be fine and warm enough for walking about but don’t want it too hot that you are always having to seek shelter from the heat.

Events in New York in June

There are some notable film and music festivals and events that happen during June and many of them are free to attend in the outdoors. The Central Park SummerStage events present a variety of different music, dance and other art forms. Some events are free so may be worth checking out if you enjoy a live show on your New York break.

Other events and festivals to note in June are the JVC Jazz Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, the Bryant Park Film Festival and the Met Opera in the Parks.

Another great thing about June is that the twice yearly Restaurant Week occurs. During this time, many of New York’s restaurants provide meals at discounted prices which enables you to try a good number of different restaurants. This might encourage you to try somewhere new or try something a little more adventurous than usual since the prices will be low. Of this does mean that restaurants in New York usually get very busy during Restaurant Week so its advisable to book well in advance.

You can see that visiting New York in June can be a great option if you want to enjoy the warm weather at the same time as enjoying all the summer activities that New York has to offer.
